lingerie show at the Bonanza

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, freedom of expression, the right to vote, the right to have cold beer available at every store in the land and the lingerie show at the Bonanza: the foundations of humanity indeed. If you don't checkout the Bonanza some Friday in the future between the hours of 4:30 and 6:30 you will regret it for the rest of your life. And if we ever meet face to face I will call you a dork. Bring some small bills and get ready to drink some cold beer.

The beer tip for the week is Rite Aid. There are six of them in The City that sell beer and there you will find the best deals on beer anywhere. 12 packs of Modelo Especial for $9.99, Corona for $11.99, Miller and Coors 18 packs for super cheap.

Go get some beer. now.

MY SCHEDULE

Here is my schedule this week:

Tuesday lunch at Chaya, drank Arnold Palmer's the real way, 1/3 Gin, 1/3 ice tea, 1/3 Lemonade. Wednesday, sell beer all day punctuated by the occasional glance at a spreadsheet. At night lurch about with Corona girls at promotions drinking.....yes. Thursday, more selling of beer, a few meetings at which everything I say is absolutely correct and everything every one else says is absolutely wrong. Thursday night, repeat Wednesday night. Friday sales meeting. 8 am. Point taken. Sell more beer and then Halloween night.

Friday night at Roccapulco, sponsored by Corona. Corona buckets on sales, 6 beers for $20, amazing live salsa music and did I mention the Corona girls will be there.

TALK TO THE PERSON STOCKING THE SHELVES

When I throw out some critical piece of trade information I often get the response, "how did you know *that*".  People assume that most information is out there but beyond reach and requires ninja like abilities to gain.  Naw, I just asked the person putting the beer on the shelf what's up.  This is especially true in The City where people are just plain smart if slightly jaded.  I digress.

Trader Joe's carries big name beer brands now like Heineken, Corona, Fat Tire, Red Stripe and Stella Artois.  TJ's also carries this import looking brand with an obscure German name.  Turns out the beer is brewed at Gordon Beirsch's brewery in San Jose.  Word.  Even more word:  Corona and Heineken 6 packs for $6.99.

It finally happened

I told my wife it is the cut of the pants. "See, these other are 34's and they are totally comfortable" The red mark across my belly from buttoning up the pants says it all: I went from a 34 to a 35. Beer. Beer!

Lou's at Pier 47, Jazz and Blues at Fisherman's Wharf. Buckets of Corona Light are on the menu and Corona girls in slinky dresses. Man, life if tough.

BARTENDERS SHOULD NEVER BE FUNNIER THAN THE CUSTOMER

That is the thing really. Being a bartender means you are always the bridesmaid, never the bride. I stopped by a upscale ballpark spot and the bartender put on a show. It was as good as many stand up routines I have seen, shtick. Plus, the dude turned us on to a great way to drink Corona. Ice cold with a nice 2 count pour of Jimador right into the bottle followed by a splash or 2 or Tabasco. Burning lips and a great buzz. But ultimately the best bartenders let you be the star, they provide the stage, the lighting and the right accompaniment and always know when the right moment to fade into the background.

I forgot how cool Paragon is. Next time you are around the ballpark stop by for lunch. And make sure and ask the bartender if the knows any good jokes.

JADE IS COOL

There is a wall street saying that goes like this -- "you should only loan money to people who don't need it". I went up to the bar to talk to the bar manager (cool guy by the way) and ordered four cazadores. I know I am the Corona guy but I like tequila. "Here is a couple of beers on the house (did I mention he is a cool guy) to go with those beers. Awesome but do you offer a friggin Eskimo snow. Well, I guess if you can drink snow and get buzzed then hell yeah! This post is getting kinda wierd so let me get to the beer and bar stuff.

Jade has a lot of angles, up and down with some different looks. But the indoor water of wall that washes into this awesome pool of water is all the best things about LA. ya know? Anyway, the Corona's are cold and the bartenders are friendly. The crowd is chill with a mix of some stray City Hall people as well as a touch of the party crowd. Jade is worth checking out. And when you get there say Hi to Bart.

Jade, on Gough between Fulton and McAllister.
